How to Form a Club
and Join the Arizona State Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs
There are many benefits to being a member club of the association, but the
most significant is that your group will be represented in the State of Arizona
as part of the organized motor vehicle recreation population, adding to the
political strength for our efforts to keep the trails and roads open.
To be a member club of the ASA4WDC, your club must be incorporated as a nonprofit
organization. The reason is to set limits of liability for your club, its officers
and members and the ASA4WDC. Incorporation;
A. File the forms for incorporation as a nonprofit organization with
the
Arizona Corporation Commission
1300 W. Washington
Phoenix, Arizona, 85007-2929
telephone 602-542-3135
or
Arizona Corporation Commission
400 West Congress
Tucson, Arizona, 85701-1347
telephone 520-628-6560.
The filing fee is $40; expediting isn't necessary (at $35 extra).
B. After filing the forms, you must publish them in a legal paper;
they will also provide notification of publishing to the Corporation Commission
(required). This will cost around $100 if you have simple papers; shop
around, the prices vary.
C. For the ASA4WDC application, please send the following;
1. Copy of incorporation papers or application and filing receipt.
2. Copy of bylaws.
3. Copy of membership roster, with names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mails
if available.
4. Slate of officers and terms.
5. Names of the two delegates that will represent your club at the Quarterly
meetings.
6. Check for annual dues; $18 per member, prorated quarterly.
Dues are for following:
a. $10 per member passed straight through to the United Four Wheel Drive Associations
for individual membership. b. About $3 for insurance policy of $2,000,000 liability.
c. About $2 for the Arizona State Trust Land Club Recreation permits.
d. About $3 for the Wheeldust quarterly newsletter printing and mailing.
Please submit the information and dues prior to the quarterly meetings in November,
February, May and August. The application will be reviewed and voted by the
delegates at the meeting. Check the website calendar for the next meeting dates
and location. They rotate around the state to give all the clubs equal opportunities
to attend.
Best regards,
Brad Jones; President 2002
