Important Tips To Remember
- Stay on existing roads and trails - obtain helpful maps from land management agencies or map
shops.
- Avoid harassment of wildlife or livestock.
- Know the laws pertaining to OHV travel for the area you are visiting.
- Always obtain permission from private landowners before entering private land.
- Respect the rights of others.
- Learn to listen to the silence. Since many people come to the back country to get away from noise pollution, keep noise to
a minimum.
- Leave all gates as you found them.
- Avoid travel in alpine meadows, rivers and streams.
- Don't litter! - Pack it in! - Pack it out! - Pick up litter, even if it
isn't yours!
- Avoid drugs or alcohol while operating an OHV.
- Drive responsibly, protect the environment and preserve the opportunities to enjoy using your vehicle on wild and
public lands.
- Insure that children are always supervised.
- Carry basic tools, shovel, jack, water, and first aid kit.
- Be sure your vehicle is properly maintained.
- Avoid riding and driving alone. Travel in pairs, never alone.
- Always leave a travel plan, indicating where you are going and when you will return. Stick to
your plan!
